In addition to over $2000 in prize money and weekend passes to other events, EBC awards vintage-inspired high-value specially produced metal cups.
We spare no expense to make sure competition winners leave with something memorable made to proudly display for a lifetime! Where some events award key-fobs, medals, shirts or plastic trophies - EBC spends over $700 just in trophies!
Please note: EBC is a competition weekend. We like competitions and competitors. If you are an amateur you are eligible to compete in ANY/ALL division(s). If you are not an amateur, you can compete in ANY/ALL division(s) EXCEPT the Amateur Division.
Also, you are able to choose whether you compete as a leader or a follower in ANY division. Same-sex couples are also allowed in ANY division.

We've taken the EBC costume contest and streamlined it! Tired of conflicting dance events and Halloween parties? This year you can do both with the EBC post-Halloween Costume Contest!
This year, we're changing things up a bit - select attendees (some randomly selected, and some instructors) will be given contest entry passes. They will award the passes before the actual contest - so in effect, the audience will be judging you beforehand. There will only be a certain number of passes for each division.
There are 3 divisions: Scary, Funny and Sexy with cash prizes for each division and best overall! |

YES!! You may enter both the Open Classic and the Amateur Open Classic, if you are an Amateur. If you are an Amateur you are encouraged to dance up.
Please note: If you have placed in an EBC-recognized national Balboa couples competition (Jack & Jills do NOT count), you will not be considered an "Amateur" for the purposes of this competition. Some EBC-recognized competitions/events include: EBC (Open Classic or Intergalactic), All-Balboa Weekend (Open or Amateur ACBC), Balboa Rendezvous (Balboa Strictly), Canadian Balboa Championships (Open), All-Balboa Camp Detroit (Open only, not novice/amateur), Camp Hollywood (Pro Balboa Strictly), Boston Tea Party (Balboa Strictly).
If you have placed in a Balboa competition outside of those named, please inquire before signing up in this division. EBC Instructors are not permitted to enter this division. Instructors making over 50% of their income from teaching are not permitted to enter this division, exceptions would include ballroom or other dance styles.
In the event of a minimum number of entries not being reached in the Amateur Open Classic or the Open Classic divisions, the two divisions will be combined into the EBC Open Classic.

The Intergalactic Infinity + 1 Balboa Championship Strictly Balboa Division - The penultimate end of Balboa competitions, the "Infinity + 1" is it man, seriously. You can't even go "Infinity + 1 ^ Infinity" because that's how we ended up with "Infinity + 1" since on an infinite scale we looped back. In doing so, we got cool haircuts and free muffins, but that's beside the point.
Anything in the realm of Balboa/Bal-Swing goes...
Prelims will consist of heats.
Finals will consist of an all-skate warm-up, and all-skate, spotlights in a "jam-style" fashion for a set number of phrases dedicated to each couple, and a final all-skate. If the judges request another song, it will be added at the end of the round.
YES!! You may enter both the Open Classic and the Intergalactic Balboa Division, but not with the same partner.

Designed to brush up your competition skills, EBC will host a competition class on Fri afternoon and Sat afternoon. These classes are limited to 10 couples each, and ONLY amateur status dancers are permitted to enter. These are elective classes, and will cost $15 per couple to enter.
Each class will be ran similar to an actual competition. There will be an all-skate, spotlights and another all-skate. After which, each couple will get feedback from the judges based on their performance, as well as suggestions as to what they can do to become more competitive or just work on their dancing.
Time will limited, and in order to maximize feedback time, you should be ready to dance as soon as the class begins.
Please understand that the judges will be instructed to provide feedback based on your performance at the time as well as in comparison to the other couples in the class.
In the event that the appropriate number of participants is not met, the class will be cancelled and refunds will be issued.
